History Of The Gerber Pocket Knife.

Posted by admin on July 29, 2020

For the serious knife collectors all over the world, there are so many knives in different sizes and descriptions, it’s a wonder how they keep track of them all. Many collectors like to have different varieties in their collections, while others may focus on a more specific name brand.

The Gerber Legendary Blades, makers of the gerber pocket knife , is a famous name in the knife industry. Since its birth in the year 1939 the Gerber Legendary Blades have been engaged in producing the quality range of skillfully crafted cutlery knives and other multipurpose equipments. Gerber hunting knives are one of the awesome products of this line. They are skillfully designed with the utmost design innovation and are for specific purposes by the hunting fanatics. The founder, Joseph Gerber, had started out with the idea of making twenty five wonderful kitchen cutlery sets to be given to his clients as a Christmas gift in the year 1910. The knives, made by a hired knife-maker, turned to be highly popular. Out of the blue Gerber decided to quit his advertising agency and paid his full time attention to developing the Gerber Legendary Blades.

Even after six decades Gerber Legendary Blades is still at its zenith as far as the name and fame are concerned. Even today, with a wide array of innovative creations, the company is thriving well in the midst of the rampant competition of the modern day’s knife market.

Some Great Gerber Hunting Knives

Among the wide assortment of Gerber hunting knives, the best ones are as follows:

Freeman Hunter: This is one of the most well known designs of hunting knives in the hunters’ community. The polished pear wooden handle enhances the aesthetic quality of the equipment. This hunting knife had been designed to facilitate the hunters to skin smaller and larger games quite easily. Crafted from the premium grade stainless steel, this legendary creation of Gerber Legendary Blades has proven to be the best for real hunters and has won the BEST OF THE BEST award. The most significant features of this knife are its true finger guard with the finger grooves. The thumb serration helps to exert added pressure while cutting. It comes in a ballistic nylon sheath with the full length of 8.35″.

The Firestorm: Made from the surgical stainless tanto type blade, this 3.25″ knife is heavy-duty equipment. The steel handle with polycarbonate scales not only ensures strong grip but also enhances the beauty. With a steel jacket this has a total length of 8.25″, costing $64.99.

Harsey Fixed Blade Hunter with Tactical Sheath: This is a classic kind of knife with stainless-steel drop point blade and rubber handle. With the 5 ¼ inches, 400-series full tang stainless blade and sharp edge, this smart equipment becomes valuable to any situation. It comes in a tactical jacket, total length 10.5″.

Magnum Camo Jr.: This is an expanded version of Gerber knives LST series. With the 420HC steel, this 2 ¾ fine edge blade has amazingly durable edge and sharpness. The fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastic unbreakable handle with Mossy Oak Brand camouflage finish is the eye catching part of the knife. It has a total length 6.19″.

2010 Gerber Pocket Knife Line Up

Posted by admin on

Well the future is here; that’s right it’s 2010 and everything is better, flying cars, free energy, endless food, and world peace! Okay, maybe not, but what is new and improved are Gerber Legendary Blades’ new products for 2010. Gerber never disappoints; with a history of quality and dependability the Gerber name has become synonymous with pocket knives and outdoor tools of every kind. The new lineup for 2010 lives up to all expectations with some great, versatile pocket knives that will meet your needs. I’ve gone through the new products, picked our favorites, and given you the rundown for summer 2010.

First up is the Crevice. The Crevice is my top pick gerber pocket knife for summer 2010 because I love small, easy to carry, versatile pocket knives. The Crevice not only looks super cool with an angular design and textured aluminum handle but comes in your choice of straight or combo edges. This pocket knife makes a great everyday carry; compact, lightweight and fits easily in your pocket. It features a low-rise pocket clip and carabiner that doubles as a bottle opener. I always have a  gerber pocket knife in my pocket and have to say that I’ve become almost totally reliant on the small, lightweight, multi-use type knives. I use mine constantly while working around the house, barbecuing, or camping.

Next up is the Descent with the blue aluminum handle. Much like the Crevice, the Descent is a compact gerber pocket knife with a some great features. Another cool design from Gerber makes this knife a top choice for 2010. The blue anodized aluminum handle just looks cool and keeps the weight down. Also featuring a carabiner clip, this  gerber pocket knife is perfect for the backpacker or climber. You can clip it right to your pack and not worry about fitting it in your pocket. One of my favorite features is the open frame, especially for camping and backpacking. When I’m in the outdoors my knife becomes my go to tool for pretty much everything so having an open frame makes it really easy to clean out the salami and cheese bits after I stop for a snack on the trail.

My final pick is the Icon with the Tanto blade. This gerber pocket  knife is a little larger than both the Crevice and Descent but offers my personal favorite blade style, the Tanto. I have several Tanto blade folders of my own and have found that this shape is probably the most all-around useful. The Icon features an all black blade with choice of regular or combo edge, an aluminum handle with textured inlays, and a thumb stud for easy, one-handed opening. I chose this tactical folder as one of my top picks for summer 2010 because it is an all around great knife. I chose a knife very similar to this as one of my first purchases years ago and still use it constantly.

All in all I would have to say that I am pleased with the new line up that Gerber released for 2010. It seems like in “the future” everyone is looking for change. I, for one, am happy to say that I am satisfied with more of the same, from Gerber Legendary Blades that is. More versatile products that we can trust with innovative styling and quality materials. So, get out there and enjoy the simple pleasures that the outdoors offer, a cool breeze, the sound of the wind in the trees, and a quiet piece of nature, whether it be the back country or the back yard.

The Versatile Gerber Pocket Knife

Posted by admin on

How many times have you been out doing your favorite activity and you find that you are in need of cutting something or trimming something?

What do you do?

You reach into your pocket, pull out your trusty gerber pocket knife and you make the cut or trim that is needed.

But if you don’t have a gerber pocket knife, what do you do? If you are like most of us, You usually try to pull or twist the item apart and it just does not work.

Well, I am here today to help direct you in finding that tool that you are missing, and that is a trusty gerber pocket knife.

The gerber pocket knife is a versatile  must have, all of them lock open so that you will not have a problem with them closing while you are using them.

Most of them have a clip to hold them to your pocket if you want or another item of clothing.

Gerber makes many different types of pocket knives, you will find some with either plain edges or serrated edges, a plain edge if useful for cutting most items while a serrated edge works on harder to cut items like thick cord, or leather or rubber type items.

I think you will find either blade you choose up to becoming one of the tools you will use nearly every day once you get used to using the great gerber pocket knife . There are so many things that call for a knife that you just have to own one and see how useful they really are.

If a gerber pocket knife won’t get the job done, then maybe a multi-tool is what is needed, Gerber makes some really good multi-tools too.

Most multi-tools have at least one or more knife blades that can be used for cutting and some even have a small saw blade for sawing small wood pieces or plastic.

Both the gerber pocket knife and multi-tools can be found at Beebe’s knives.

It might be a good idea for you to have several pocket knives or multi-tools, leaving them in strategic places for the time when you need them, like the glove compartment of your car, or your tool box, or the emergency kit in your car or home.

Please visit my website at beebesknives.com for more information on these great Gerber pocket knives and multi-tools.

Help identifying a pocket knife?

Posted by admin on September 1, 2011

I have a knife with no name like gerber or benchmade or anything, but it looks very similar to this http://www.boker.de/us/pocket-knife/magnum/tactical-knife/01MB830.html but there are three small holes near the dull base of the blade and the handle is smooth but has thin lines in it. Any help would be appreciated

Looking for help buying a pocket knife?

Posted by admin on July 26, 2011

I’ve always liked having a good, reliable knife on me whenever I’m out for a multitude of uses. I’m looking to buy a decent quality pocket knife. I’ve always liked the ones that have a single blade and fold. I’ve had some Gerber knives and a Buck knife that I liked. Between the two I liked the Buck knife better because of the look (the one with golden on each end and wood in the middle, everyone has seen it), it also had a nice heft to it and no serrations. However, one thing I really liked about my Gerber was that it had a pocket clip. I want to be able to open it with one hand and it to be able to hold an edge pretty well. Any tips on where to look for one? I’m fine with buying it online but if it’s better to buy one at a store that works too. Preferable made in USA.

Thanks for any help.

Help Me Choose a Pocket Knife?

Posted by admin on June 20, 2011

I can’t decide between the Gerber 22-41493 EVO Jr. Serrated Knife and the S&W SWFR2S.

What mostly matters to me is that it keeps an edge and has a strong reliable lock to keep it open. If you know a different good pocket knife, please tell me!

Also, I already have a Swiss Army Knife, so don’t suggest that!
